UNCW Inclusive Futures Program

This month, we’re celebrating the incredible work of the University of North Carolina Wilmington Inclusive Futures Program, a two-year certificate program that empowers young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to build independence, confidence, and real-world skills on a vibrant college campus.

Inclusive Futures offers students access to inclusive academic experiences alongside UNCW peers, life skills development and career preparation, campus engagement through clubs, recreation, and community activities, and supportive pathways toward greater autonomy and long-term success.

What stands out most is the program’s commitment to belonging and possibility. Students are encouraged to explore their strengths, participate fully in college life, and gain the skills needed for employment and independent living.

We’re inspired by the work they’re doing to open doors, expand opportunities, and champion true inclusion. Programs like UNCW Inclusive Futures remind us why person-centered support — grounded in connection and growth — matters so deeply.
